“Incredible” Garden Ramble

On Sunday 7th November 2010, in glorious spring like conditions, the Rotary Club of Albany held their bi-annual Coatesville Garden Ramble.

The weather was perfect and visitors to the event were able to indulge themselves with a gorgeous day in the country, visiting and enjoying the peace and tranquility of five park-like gardens in beautiful Coatesville. Most of the gardens have been recognized by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture as being of Significance or National Significance to New Zealand

The five gardens, which were created by the love, care and hard work of their owners, were presented immaculately, displaying late spring and early summer splendour. The owners took great pleasure in being available on the day to discuss the history of their gardens with visitors which they really enjoyed.

This event, which was organized by the Rotary Club of Albany, raised funds to support a number of charities including the North Shore Hospital Foundation and North Shore LIFE Education Trust.

“It was an amazing day, and I have to say a special thanks to all the members of Albany Rotary” said Albany Rotary President Grant Smith. “Our members have worked tirelessly on this event for over 6 months, and it is great to see all this hard work rewarded with such a great turnout of visitors”

“We got great feedback about the event from visitors who all commented on the immaculate presentation of each of the five individual gardens” said Smith. “Special thanks must go the garden owners, as it is only through their amazing generosity that we are able to run this event”.

The gardens which took part in the 2010 Garden Ramble were:

Brookgreen Park, Mincher, Pine Lee, Twin Lakes and Woodbridge.
